A Very Warm Ride

Saturday son Ben and I had planned on another morning ride but torrential rains changed our plans.  In the words of a certain Mr. J. Tull, we decided to sit this one out.
Conditions at 7am...

At 11am....muddy yet passable.

So while we do get flooding it's never been quite this bad......

A bit of breakfast at The 'Fork in River Falls and then later some lunch at the Railhouse in Lake City.

168 very warm miles today, almost no gravel (though we could have!), hot and muggy.

  1. Rode through quite the rain storm this afternoon, I believe that in Texas it would have been called a "toad strangler".....construction zones were awash, visibility was crap, cagers continued exceeding safe speed limits....almost made me wish for dry conditions but we need the rain.

    1. Dom, I don't mind 'reasonable' rain but downpours are potentially too dangerous. Most of the time I've pulled over and waited; the hard showers, at least in our part of the world, are temporary and spotty. We riders need to be especially wary of the loss of visibility and puddles that get too deep.

  2. Good to see Ben's home, enjoy the time, hope you have the week off.
I like that silo, where is it?

    1. I wish the week was an off one but we're doing the best that we can. The silo was a new sight for me, I've got to look closer at where we were to locate it exactly.

    2. Hah! Found it! Had to look at my recorded Track for a place (eastbound, I remember that) where the 'dots' got close together showing short distance/long time. It was quick, I was off the bike fast, took the shot and going again almost before Ben could even get the Breva stopped and started again.

  3. That is quite the puddle. You could have taken out the TW and just ridden through the puddle back and forth splashing the water out so it wasn't as deep.

    1. :) We empty puddles that way in the rest of the driveway. The water you see here is flowing like the dickens....quickly replaced.

  4. Thought I'd let you know my VFR is for sale. My hips can't take it. Going to look for a Tenere or FJR or something not quite so sadistic to my body.lol

    1. Completely understand Scott. As old folks, the sport bike position isn't very popular at our rallies any longer. For some reason, I'm still making it work but I know that won't last.

      Consider something small(er) :)
