Gaskets

This is NOT how they are to be placed.

Not surprisingly, that's the exact spot where the oil seemed to be seeping/bubbling out.

I'll get this covered up again and then get the new jets installed in the carb.  Hopefully that will make cold-starting easier and if not, I'll keep at it until it does start more easily......it's brutal to get it running now.  Once warm, it almost kick-starts itself though it does feel lean.  A good cleaning and re-jetting should make this thing the fun it's supposed to be.

    1. Now officially legal too! The snowy and cold repair and maintenance season has begun. Sometimes it's just nice to be out of the house, on the bike or next to it.

  2. Winter projects are nice though it may be difficult to test your work.

    1. Richard, you nailed it. Even with our cold and snow, they're talking about a warm Thanksgiving week and that means, just maybe........

  3. I have no end of admiration for all you mechanics out there. Prepping my bike for winter storage is about all I can muster in that department. Although I do need to get the bottom of the lack of consistent heat from my throttle side grip.

    1. David, the bad thing about all of this mechanicing is that once you start, there's simply no end to it. The magic is in knowing where to draw the line and send the serious work to the pro's.

Hope your cold grip is an easy fix!
