Summer Odds n Ends - September 2021

Over the last few months in between the monumentous events highlighted in the blog there have been smaller going's on that might have just slipped into the cracks but have not....because I have photos.  Over the off season (non-riding) I'll be featuring in more detail some of the visits, places seen, mini-adventures etc. that didn't make it into some of the weekends or trips that were overviews.  Examples....stops I made up on the Iron Range, the Vernon County Museum and so on.  In thinking back, some of them have already begun to fade from memory.  Luckily I've got photos in chapters that will facilitate my bringing everything back to life.

"Oh boy" you say.                         Yes, I heard that.  ;)

A look at the garden, 3rd week of July...

A big windstorm, really tough on our sweet corn and sunflowers....a yard-saving half inch.

A Blue Jay aflutter, an Indigo Bunting the reason I snapped the shot.

There was another Quick Overnight, this time on the Breva the last day of July.

Site #6....

Another great Thursday evening meal in Elgin at O'Neill's

Poor Ken, it looked like hit and run to me but only a hunch....I wasn't there.

Campfire prepared!

From the garden, at least most of this...Heirloom Tiger Stripe and Midnight Cherry tomatoes, we must be closing in on 1M of the little ones.

My modified BLT one evening while Home Alone...

Many jars of salsa....

My open face breakfast burrito....

Rubbed and Pulled Pork that Peg Put together before she and Lauren left for a week in Bayfield, this what she kindly left for me here on the ranch.

What I was doing with it while they were away....

Three samples from three vendors of smoked fish spread from the South Shore.  Three quite distinct recipes!

Midnight Roma's....beautiful purple-black while growing....

Ripening......

Tomato Jam.....imagine Cumin and Cinnamon.  We think it's better than it sounds.

Apple Jelly.....

So many loaves of zucchini bread that we've lost count....started placing them in random mailboxes.

No eggs for another 7-8 weeks.....

Ours won't get this colorful....

Breakfast in the State Park...

Wabasha County Historical Society....Oldest brick schoolhouse in Minnesota

Dinner at Kruger Recreation Area.....

Eric and I met in Winona for breakfast....a ride followed.

Dinner in the State Park....

Leave no trace...

Another Quick Overnight.....O'Neill's in Elgin for dinner.

Grandma came flying in to the Kwik for some last minute groceries....glad I wasn't in her way!

Breakfast in Red Wing's Memorial Park....

Leave no trace....

After a Very Fine loop across the river, it was back to Red Wing at the Pie Shop.

There, now we're all caught up!  It's Friday morning, the KLR is packed and ready to mingle with the BMW lot at the Minnesota Hiawatha BMW Rally for the weekend.
