November 15 - Almost Better Than Summer

This autumnal light is the most amazing and beautiful thing....I'll forever enjoy it.  I just wish there was more of it.

Both last weekend and this, the weather has been simply amazing.  Friday Good, Saturday Better, Sunday Best.  So, that means I've been accomplishing something Friday and Saturday, riding on Sunday.

The first full weekend in November....the Trout Pond in Plum City was decorated for the Holidays; the lunker trout even seemed a bit more festive.

Normally I just ride by, last weekend I actually stopped at the Laura Ingalls Wilder birth site.

Friday morning I was replacing the decking on the front of the house and heard, then saw two very large V-formations of swans flying downriver.  Saturday the carpenter work continued but no more swans.  My guess is that those still north decided to stop somewhere and put their swim trunks on to cool off.  Today, the deck project is on hold, riding was instead the day's plan.

A Buffalo City guy walking the pups......

I waited for the train north of Buffalo City and then rode along beside it in Alma.

The back way home north of Wabasha (Grumpy Old Men).....

We may just as well go for a ride next weekend too!!

    1. Dom, you are right about that!! Heard about your snow this week, we got by with only wind and lots of rain. Had it been colder, accumulation would have been deep.

  2. I agree, we have had some very nice fall weather.
It's been a few years since I've seen the trout in Plum City. I used to stop at the gas station for a snack and then watch the fish for a while. So many great motorcycle roads right there!

    1. Erik, that's exactly what happens there. Pull in, get off the bike, something to drink and a snack, watch others buy fish food and feed the trouts :) A pleasant place, sound of the water aerators and splashing water all make it a pretty spot to stop. This was the first time I've been there when it's decorated with wreaths and reindeer.

There are many nice roads nearby, paved and otherwise. Last weekend the KLR saw a fine mix of both.

  3. Nice pictures. I enjoy seeing trains while out riding. Definitely better than working on a deck (in my humble opinion).

    1. Thanks Richard. I'm a train watcher as well, just something about them and where they're off to.....

    1. Brandy, I think we may have finally used it all up. Even with a mild couple of months foreseen ahead, real riding weather may be over. At least for those of us with only 2 wheels.

    1. It has been wonderful, nice enough for us all to forget how the cold and nasty arrived extra early last year. We just might be getting back to normal very soon.

    1. Sonja, this past weekend may have been the last of it. I'll try to get out at least once more. Cold won't keep me home, ice and slippery just may.
