Another Spring Break (mini) Adventure - 2026/03/29

Plans had been to take the bicycle and camp in Door County all week but last week's storm and predicted weather for this week altered my plans.  Instead I stayed local and minimized in every way.

No bicycle, basically no real cooking....boiled water and soup mostly.  As our beloved Beatles sang many years ago, ".....I didn't do a bloody thing all day....."  Some hiking, some watching-of-the-coals and lots of listening to the wind in the pines.

Early Monday morning....awake but inside.

Camped there in the pines....

Vines do odd things....

....circle things...

My Sunday afternoon and Monday morning hikes....

Tuesday morning, a quick and simple breakfast before heading home.  The rest of the week weather looks conducive to home chores, possibly a bike ride in between snowflakes and drizzlly ice.

This Past Week of Spring - 2026/03/29

A very good week, filled with.....Good.

Only a couple of weeks ago, the snow (and drifts) were still here....

 The melt still active....

A week ago a friend and I had the wonderful opportunity to hear Patsy Cline at the Sheldon ....Joyann Parker's voice and presence amazing!!

Spring Break, Lake City schools is this week (Palm Sunday morning) and my Break began yesterday with an early breakfast with Eric in Oakdale, WI.  A guy can't go wrong at Laughing Larry's Lunchroom.

It was still cold, still early....and still windy cold.  So since I'd already sprung for my WI State Park Pass, I visited nearby Mill Bluff State Park.

 I can't count the times I've ridden/driven past on I-90 and hadn't stopped....stairs....very steep stairs.

Up on top Mill Bluff....

Interstate 90 and much beyond....

Old Highway 12 looking north...

And finally my reason for entering the neighboring State Saturday morning, the Omaha Bicycle Trail.  Unloading in Camp Douglas.

The tunnel....see the guardrail above?  Most of my motorcycles have covered that road.

Again, this adjacent road is very familiar to my motorcycle travels...

For my friends at the Bus Company....

Followed by a round-a-bout way home, including a lunch meet-up with Willie and Eric in Burr Oak.

A very nice late March day in Sconny!
