Not Always Cold And Clear

This weekend's outdoor NFL game is garnering quite the press....predictions are for cold and clear.  We aren't always like that up here though.  We've had a very mild though cloudy December, record setting on both accounts.

Last night our thermometer read +35, that's a temperature ABOVE freezing and it was snowing.  For some lucky reason, this time the atmosphere was colder than the ground surface temperature.  A few weeks ago it was the other way around and we're still battling some ice in places from that topsy turvy condition.

This morning we're living in a white lacy world.

Percival (Purs-Purs), always looking for company outside, soon was granted permission to ride on my shoulder while we photographed the magical valley.

As the cold invades this weekend, I won't be sitting in a stadium.  I'll get back to motorcycle maintenance, finish putting the new Helix battery in and get the new tire back in place.

Not sure what's next on the lift.....if none of them volunteer I'll have to make an executive decision.

  1. You certainly know how to make the most out of a tire, Coop. Spending time on motorcycle maintenance is time spent well ;-)

    1. Sonja, truth be told I very seldom run them down like this. I was so desperate to put some miles on it this spring that I used it anyway. This new tire has been in the shop for months, a very lazy mechanic decided to park the scooter and wait for seasonal upkeep to make the change. This is one of those do as I say and not as I do's.

  2. I always like the "white lacy" look on the trees. I don't know how you keep track of all of the maintenance needs on so many bikes.

    1. Richard, "all" is a big word. I'm not as diligent as I should be though I do keep spreadsheet records for all of them so I don't have to remember anything. Air filters, batteries and tires as required and of course fluid changes. Since I have more than one, the things that are dependent on mileage mean stretched out intervals.

    1. Martha, she's got a coat like rabbit fir and is absolutely the sweetest feline I've ever known. People that don't like cats like this one. I love her except when I'm working under the car.

    1. Dom, we have 2 barn cats (2 inside as well) that are pets because I spend time with them. This one would curl up anywhere with anyone. There's a porch swing under the overhang along the length of the garage, south-facing. My lap often hosts 2 cats that don't always get along otherwise; the sun must be the difference.
