Short And Sweet

Normally by now I'd have posted an update on the 2015 Hiawatha BMW Rally but things have been hectic around here.  Ben just left for Fort Benning this afternoon, the lawn had to be trimmed, I'm packing for this weekend's Road America adventure (short work week, long weekend) and in less than two weeks, we've got a big event in New Jersey that we're very much looking forward to.

There's a common thread on the forums "....didn't happen if there ain't no photos...."  It DID happen and will be reported on in much greater photo detail, possibly Thursday evening while the next event (that will require Posting) is in progress.

Two Adventurous motorcycles.....Ol' Blue and New Blue.

Bob and his umbrella, necessary accessory for a time Friday evening. Registration Cone area quiet at that moment but the bikers continued to roll in even after dark, rain or no.

Eric's favorite helmet cam shot of the weekend.  After lunch on Friday we took the back way out of Lanesboro.

Crisp, cool and lovely Sunday morning as the group scattered.

It's cool that you have so many moto events going on!

    1. Thanks Deb, we've got and have had a busy cluster of weekends right now. Just arrived at the motel, two nights here and then two more at Road America. Nice riding tomorrow!

    1. Richard, it rained really hard off and on in the evening. Showers would be intense, start abruptly and end the same way. It was sort of humorous (for those of us under cover) watching attendees take a chance when "....looks like it's let up...." they'd hustle towards their tent or next destination only to have it start pouring 90 seconds later. The faucet seemed to be binary.

  3. Do you also get motorcycle events without rain? ;-)

If I had to chose between little and big blue, I would opt for the pretty lil' Yammy.

    1. Sonja, it's still spring in Minnesota/Wisconsin and rain is more typical than not. Late July and August the odds are better. These spring rains can last all day and be soakers. Summer thunderstorms can be spotty and iffy.

The Yamaha didn't let me down, ran well and was a barrel of fun. Look for more 650 adventures on Labor Day.

  4. That favorite photo looks like it happened on one narrow road! Sounds like you are having way too much riding fun in between mowings. I'm with Sonja ... liking Ol' Blue but then I have a soft spot for Yamaha.

    1. Karen, that road is listed as Ox Trail on my Garmin map, I've seen it listed with at least one other name on other maps. It IS a Minimum Maintenance Road and last Friday was the first time that I've ever been on one when a UPS truck was barreling down on us from behind. It is literally cut into the edge of a cliff and outside of that guardrail is nothing.but vertical. I was there on one of the other bikes and met a tractor with a wagon load of hay. There is no room on part of it to meet anything.

I'm coming around to these Yamaha's.......:) They don't outnumber the Honda's in the garage but they are making a serious effort.

  5. Thanks for the quick write up. Darn job and chores getting in the way. Don't worry I am still trying to find time to post up our mountain bike ride from last Friday.

    Have fun this weekend.

    1. Brandy, it's a darn shame that those other life issues get in the way of good ridin'. You'll get A Round Tuit I'm sure and hopefully tomorrow after a very full day of exploring SE Wisconsin I'll get my activities up to date.

Thanks, hope you get out as well!
