Planning Underway

Actually, planning started months ago....when the snow began to fall and has continued with varying intensity.  Now we're in "More Planning" mode.  Schedules are being firmed up, family commitments, work schedules (   :(   )being 'adjusted', etc. all part of the many and varied marks on the calendar.  This past week my packet from Road America arrived so now we're official; campsite and camping arm band in hand.

Here's the geographical calendar version of my planned events.

No GR3 (Great River Road Rally) this year due to Hanna's graduation but we'll try again next year.  Yes, I'm talking and planning big.  I'll also be keeping score and had better get started soon or there won't be enough season to squeeze all of this in.

Snow, go away....go away.

  1. OMG such a busy map... you've got so many places you plan to go and I'm having such a hard time planning places I want to go ... As long as the snow goes we're probably all good to go! (Coop, I'm already tired.)

    1. Most of these have been repeating events each year, starting in early May to early October. The MOA BMW rally in the Twin Cities is something I'll probably visit for the day, not really being a part of. Weekends or long weekends.

That's what winter is for Karen, building up strength and endurance :)

  2. What's the significance of the red and black boxes?

    I think you'll be busy...

    1. Richard, you caught me; none whatsoever. I'm a terrible artist and changing the colors for boxes/text/arrows had me flummoxed.

I should have done more pre-planning........and practiced.

  4. I'm counting on YOUR attendance at those fine venues. Unfortunately those of us not yet with the pending retirement free time soon yours have to prioritize.

I'll get the events a bit further away, you cover the more local stuff, deal? It's obvious this is going to require a team effort.

  5. Sounds like a busy riding season. It is good to make plans, without making any you'll end up doing short little runs but no trips. Ask me how I know.

    1. These are for the most part, the same events I've been attending the last couple of years. Many advance reservations and a couple of motel rooms have been spoken for. I don't really do any weeknight rides so everything gets saved for longer rides and overnights on the weekends.

  6. Coop:

I like to look at maps too and dream . . . of where to go. But like you, not much happening on the bike front for touring this year but plans in the works for a long 2015 ride.

    1. How many miles get ridden other than to/from the events will be the variable for me this year. Last year, I did much less riding once at the rallies and that may change in '14.

  7. Gee whiz I wish I could plan a long road trip this summer, but it is going to have to wait a bit. Looks like a lot of riding Coop.

    1. My longer road trip is still up in the air for this summer but I'm hoping to still pull it off.
