Calling It For 2015

If I can get out again, I'll do it but I won't report it.

I won't change the pie is what I really mean to say; the chart for 2015 is complete.  The slices are established, the totals locked in (even if I do manage to sneak in another mile or two).

This is why......7:08 PM, November 20th with us right on the very edge.  The cyan color is significant.

THESE cold hard facts......

  1. I'll have to forward this post to my buddy. He's kind of OCD and will really like the pie chart!
After the cold and blowing of last night, I think it's all over for up here too.

    1. Erik, I must be kind of OCD as well. Down here in the south land we had cold and blowy, but starry skies this AM and nothing on the ground ....that fell from the sky. There may be hope yet!!

    1. Richard, it was a grand year for riding. Sitting here in my cozy writing space with a hot cup, I just don't remember any bad weather.

Bikes ridden were 16 though the garage count is way down. Only 1 arrived this year but 2 left!!

  3. You will be left with 15 bikes next year... are you sure that will be sufficient? I love pie charts and statistics by the way, but my excuse is being German ;-)

    1. Sonja, I still have the same number, the bikes that left were Ben's, one of which was my 250 KLR that was replaced with a 650.

I understand that German part, a major part of my makeup as well.

    1. Thanks Dom, it's kind of fun and enlightening to see what the actual individual totals are. Specific rides get remembered, longer/shorter days etc. don't necessarily store in the brain all that accurately.

I'm not a statistics guy but I did find myself wondering about the distribution of miles vs engine size. I'm going to leave it all right where it is, this is enough. :)

  5. The snow that wants to stick hasn't hit this area yet and I swear I've seen more riders out in November than October. It's been a glorious month. You had a totally impressive year. I'm looking forward to what you're up to over the winter.

    1. Another lovely day here Karen, just never above freezing. Warmer into Monday, almost riding weather then but I won't be going out after work.

Lots of maintenance, tire changes and maybe, just maybe this winter I'll get some Cafe'ing accomplished. Most important of all is to have the majority of the machines ready when the snow has melted next spring.

    1. Hey Scott, thought about you down there with this storm. I was in Dubuque last week training one of our customers; our other trainer mostly handles Iowa, lives in Muscatine and had to get back there at the end of the week.
Have a great Thanksgiving Scott, my best to Shari!

  8. We get snow but there are quite a few days through the winter where the roads are clear enough to ride. Couple that with a desire to keep flying and I'm braving the cold.

You're pie chart is pretty amazing. I have few data collection neurons in my brain so you'll never see something like that from me.

    1. Steve, thanks for stopping by. It's possible that we end up with bare roads as well, though there always seem to be random rivers of ice/slippery across the roadway. It isn't really the cold that keeps me away from winter riding, rather the salt spray on those roads that are for the most part 'clean' and dry.

Whenever my somewhere-in-the-future Ural arrives, it will see winter use on small, gravel roads.

    2. Yeah, a URAL would open some doors for nasty weather riding but like you, it's somewhere down the road for me.

  9. I know my mileage was down this year so a big round of applause to you for not only riding over 11k miles, but also for the variety of bikes ridden.

    1. Brandy,
Mileage down isn't bad, next year you'll be able to balance things out. Having the bikes is fun; they've all got their personalities, quirks and high points that endear the machines to me as my friends do.

It's the time of year to be thankful for things a lot more important than all of the wheels and I am.
