The Entire Family

Every evening, it's the same thing; I'm eating dinner and can look out to see this family doing likewise.  Pop comes out, mom shows up a bit later with the twins; the soybeans are that good!  This family shares dinner together more often than most of us do.  Tonight the dinner party was small.  The last few evenings this family has been inviting the entire neighborhood over.

This view from our dining room table........

Hopefully there will still be something for Delmar to harvest come September.

    1. Normally further apart, their close proximity to each other tonight forced me to grab the camera.

  2. It looks like you were noticed and being carefully watched. Nice photo...

  3. I was zoomed out as far as my lens will go. This field, behind and next to the house is 5 acres. The deer herd uses most of it; the buck stays back in the corner, at least during daylight hours. SOMEone has been stealing cherries from the lower branches of our trees and it isn't the raccoons. I've got the electric fence up now, hoping to salvage the cherries higher up.

  4. Lovely to look at but awful pests and terribly destructive. We finally had to resort to electric fencing here to keep them out of gardens and away from the house. I suggested a 30-30 might be more effective but the missus kiboshed that (see "lovely to look at").

    1. Our wildlife is truly fun to look at but there has been a cost. I've done my best to give up on planting things because it has become too big of fight. We are surrounded by green things that grow and do so on a grand scale. I'm content to go without plantings around the house......let nature do its thing.

  5. Coop:

we had the same problem with the crows eating up all of our blueberries. We eventually "gave up"

    1. It can get very frustrating when they are as determined as they seem to be.

  6. Love that the deer feel safe coming to the fields for dinner. I enjoy just watching them, so peaceful.

    1. They are undeniably cute, fuzzy and easy to calm down for. It's too bad they enjoy time right around the house and crossing the roads.

  7. Oh deer! Soy much for the harvest. You may have to pass the hat to reap some bucks and give the dough to the farmer. If you do that, there's a good chance his missus will fawn over you. A little too much of that, and you'll want to go stag for a while.

    1. David,
Knowing you, I'll bet that took not much more than a minute or two. :)

I'm counting 15 out there this evening. Pop must be back in hiding though.
