A Rider's Funeral

Yesterday I attended a fellow rider's funeral down in LaCrosse, the crowd so large that there were people left standing in the back of the church. Lunch was served and stories shared at the LaCrosse Center on the riverfront.

I didn't personally know Curt Gran, but many of my friends did and knew him well, having ridden many miles with him. Knowing well those that spoke highly of him and hearing the many stories of those that shared their time with him, left a very strong impression.  Rest In Peace Curt.

From the Memorial.........

You can shed tears that he is gone, or you can smile because he has lived.  You can close your eyes and pray that he'll come back, or you can open your eyes and see all he has left.  Your heart can be empty because you can't see him, or you can be full of the love you shared.  You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.  You can remember him and only that he's gone, or you can cherish his memory and let it live on.  You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back, or you can do what he'd want, smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

  1. Great post Doug! I'm in the same boat as you, I didn't personally know Curt but have a lot of friends that did. All of those people spoke very highly of him! Very sad.

  2. Considering the circumstances, I was pleased that there were so many of us there and very glad that I went.
