Besides having a wonderful (dry though foggy) time at this year's Elkader, IA rally, I learned a couple of things.
When a guy leaves his wallet "in his other pants" twice in as many days and his buddies cover for him, friendships are confirmed when said confirmation was really unnecessary and already known.
The other thing.....and all you really need to know....
I mentioned no rain but there was more than enough moisture in the air all weekend. Some of it with the sun, some of it as fog. Wet like rain but not rain.....and it was in the air almost until I reached the Iowa border. Everyone I met had wipers.
First break, Plainview..
Almost the same To From....
Thursday's stop for lunch in Decorah, Sabin's a favorite spot.
Thursday afternoon about 1:00, I was first down in 'our' corner of the rally grounds.
Rode to McGregor for something sweet and black.
Sometimes it floods....
Old and new....
Rod's beautifully prepared '87 SP II 1000 Moto Guzzi.
Set up Thursday afternoon...
Friday morning's fog. Mike and Colleen had arrived Thursday afternoon.
Friday morning I rode to Strawberry Point in heavy fog to try out a new coffee shop, then west and north out of Arlington. Stumbled on this historical cemetery site.
Rambler in Monona....
The new Lansing bridge from the first level observation pull-out.
From the Wisconsin side....
Stopped for a rest and some shade in Wyalusing....
No tripod, the best I could do.... July 2026
August 2009......My first time on Chad's Trans Wisconsin Adventure Trail, that trip on my TW200 Yamaha. Same coat, same explorer.
I remember shiny CD's stuck in the cracks, I don't remember trolls or Donald Duck.
Jesus makes a 2nd appearance this Post....
Apparently we were off the road.....
I was there....
Saturday's Pork Chop dinner courtesy of the Pork Producers.
We were missing more than a couple....did the best we could.
Friday in Balltown......thanks Eric
Sunday morning at Maggies for breakfast.....once again, we assembled as many as we could....we had room for all of you guys.
Once again, thanks to Dennis and all the other volunteers that make this Iowa gathering so much fun!
I remember a ride some years ago when someone’s dad left his wallet in his other pants…
