Finally, finally...only months late. Made a video as well, uploaded to the video place. A way for many of us to warm up during some very cold February days.
I rode down early Thursday, Friday Greg, Steve and Kevin joined me to seek out a few more of Iowa's Freedom Rocks. I had started that quest early summer and thought it would be fun at the rally to find some more of NE Iowa's landmarks. Saturday I went out on my own, hoping for the typical Pork Chop dinner and parade through town. The pork chop happened, the parade did not.
Images follow.....
Bubba.....the artist that created all of Iowa's rocks.
Ice cream in Guttenberg....
Joe's pizza and ice cream, we seldom visit the park without a visit across the street.
Miles of experience in this combo...
And I thought there were times our driveway was 'Special'....
I'd ridden past this place many times, curious but never curious enough to actually stop. The Sherman Swift Tower in National, Iowa
Waiting for the parade through town that never happened....
There was weather overnight...
Ron brought his "Remember Sleeping Bag" pendant....
Stopped for breakfast in Plainview on my way home.
Another great event, how could it be anything else? I sent my check to Dennis yesterday for the '25 event. July will be here soon!!
This is a great family centered event.... mostly catered...3 meals... coffee.. tea cookies .... great roads and greasy spoons... ecellent camp grounds.... :)
ReplyDeleteYou are correct, this rally is as fun-pleasant as any event could be....and it involves motorcycles!!
DeleteSat on a few bikes today. My Yamaha fanboy dreams are over. The 700 Tenere was way too tall. The seat would kill my ass. I'm over the 1200 Super Tenere. Next up. The CF Moto Ibex 450 and 800,. The 450 Ibex was awesome. I could flat foot. My only concern is a lack of power for pavement. The Ibex 800 ticked off all my wants. Heated grips and cruise control. Next was a Suzuki 800 VStrom. Loved it. But doesn't have the bells and whistles of the CF Moto. I'm torn as these two bikes are it for me. Decisions, decision.
ReplyDeleteStill torn but it sounds like it's not painful ;) I've been hearing and seeing a lot of good things about the CF Moto's. The test rides I've done have been impressive, I'd not be wary of either one. But you know me, I'm moving smaller (= easier, cheaper, as fun, simpler, just as fun....enough).
DeleteGood luck deciding. Then let's meet somewhere so we can figure out if you got it right!
Probably going to be a V Strom 800or a 700 Tenere. I will email you when I get something.
DeleteI can't imagine being unhappy with either one, I'm excited for you!!
