Hanna Landrum and Sophia Mockler join the Minnesota Orchestra’s violin section
The
 Minnesota Orchestra announced today that it has hired two new musicians
 following extensive auditions. Violinists Hanna Landrum and Sophia 
Mockler will both fill vacant positions in the second violin section
 of the Orchestra. Landrum, who is originally from Frontenac, Minnesota,
 begins her new role on June 10 in the Season Finale concerts. Mockler—a
 native of Brooklyn, New York—will start in September at the beginning 
of the Orchestra’s 2019-20 season.

Hanna 
Landrum previously held the position of principal second violin with the
 Rochester Philharmonic and has performed with numerous orchestras and 
at music festivals across the country. She has held leadership positions
 with the Canton
 Symphony Orchestra, Youngstown Symphony and Firelands Symphony, and is a
 regular substitute with the Cleveland Orchestra. With a passion for 
contemporary music, she has participated in the premieres of many new 
American works, including collaborations with
 both visual arts and dance. Born and raised in Frontenac, Minnesota, 
she studied under Minnesota Orchestra violinist Aaron Janse before 
attending the Cleveland Institute of Music, where she earned both her 
bachelor of music and professional studies degrees
 mentored by David Updegraff and William Preucil. She has received 
numerous honors including the Dr. Jerome Gross prize and the Darius 
Milhaud award.
